Having a Growth Mindset Equals Accomplishing Great Challenges
In today’s world a lot of parents have different ways on raising their children. They can teach their children from a very young age how to be either fixed mindset or growth mindset. In a fixed mindset, people believe their basic qualities, like their intelligence or talent, are simply fixed traits. In the other hand, in a growth mindset, people believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work. When I have my child I’m going to raise him or her to have a growth mindset. Raising my child to have a growth mindset will thrive his or her abilities to accomplish any challenge in life.
First of all, I’m going to teach my child to never give up and always try new things even though he or she fails trying the first time. For example; when my child start learning how to walk he or she will fall on the floor several times. So I will help him or her to get back up and support them. I will let them know that is okay to fall when you have the ability and the courage to stand back again. Once my child develop the ability to walk, he or she will get better walking every day till the day they would not need my help. I believe that every single child can achieve great things just by learning the basics abilities in life when they are little.
Next, I will teach my child a lot of words when he or she start to talk. I will also teach my child how to count number and do simple math. A lot of the times they are going to pronounce them wrong or they will not count numbers right, but step by step they will learn how to talk and count numbers properly. My child will learn that through hard work and dedication he or she can get better. By doing this my child will develop the ability to do simple math at an early age that soon will become easier for them to do math when they get to middle school, high school or even college.
Third, I will teach my child how to read and write at an early age, so they don’t struggle learning how to read and write in school. Psychologist says that it is a good idea to teach your child when they are little how to read and write because their brains are developing and they absorb things fast. My child will begin learning how to write and read simple words that will them become into more complicated ones by practicing every day. Children learn more when they visualize things, so I will buy a lot of educational books for kids with images. My child will see the picture and try to memorize it and them he or she will try to spell it and write it out.
All in all, I understand that intelligence can be develop and I want my child to know that by having a growth mindset he or she can be more intelligent. I believe that raising my child to have a growth mindset is the best way so he or she can work hard to learn more and become smarter. I want my child to have a growth mindset because students who learn this mindset show greater motivation in school, they have better grades, and higher test scores.
